2015-16 I undertook a PG Diploma course from Ecological
Society of Pune. Unlike other courses which add on to your resume, this course,
made me feel like reducing things written on my resume! An MBA in Marketing. MS
in Retail Sciences and my overall professional career of looking at how to make
others ‘buy more’ and myself ‘spend more’ suddenly seemed like a horrible
concoction of boredom, despair and wrong doing!
Way ahead, Aspirations, Fast paced future and Power and position
were ingrained to be the manner in which one led one’s life. However after this
course- Water, Air ,Food and Pollution seemed to take the space of what defined
life. These basic elements which I always took for granted and really didn’t know
much about, suddenly were brought in front of me to look through a magnifying
glass.
The river, mountains, forests, and the innumerable species
of fauna and flora that exists in every 2 square feet of earth were all unknown
to me! Did each of these connect to me in some strange way? I was super busy
making friends, and relationships to impress them with who I was and what I
could do with all that I had. But these silent, oblivious species that existed
all around me and would exist even after I was gone, suddenly grew in
importance for what they kept doing every single day with no appreciation and a
mound of ignorance all around them.
I entered into a train carrying bogies of restlessness, unlearning
and relearning all heading in a direction reverse to where I was going until
now. There were bits and pieces all over, and the whole out of sight. Hindsight
or foresight, I kept questioning. Confusions increased and flourished and
poured over my family too.. I was officially a Farrago!
So I decided to put on a bi-focal spectacle and view things
differently. The confusions still exist, but penning them down and passing them
over to others is my way of sharing the burdenJ. And
as I share, I hope the train moves from the station of confusion to clarity. Heres
to everyday life seen and been a little different…
Welcome to the Farrago series…
good start..yes, the basic elements of life are often taken for granted. As they say, 'We are all creative and natural genius till the education system dumbs us!
ReplyDeleteShubha, You seem to have found your space....away from all the confusing noises .
